So I'm sure we've all bit mixed before, I know I have...a lot.
What I want to know is some of the most popular sprite comics bit mix and they get away with it. HOW?!
Discuss.

The only reason all the popular comics get away with bit mixing is because their readers (and the authors themselves) don't know how wrong it is to bit mix. Or they do know but just don't care because it contains all of their favorite characters.
I'd kick myself in the nuts if I ever bit mixed. Never have, never will... Unless I'm making a joke.

I imagine that they can get away with bit mixing if their story and characters make up for the choppy visual. 8-Bit Theater does it and it's flipping awesome.
To me, I don't mind bit mixing if the overall comic is still good enough for me to keep clicking next. Though a lot of comics are removed from my bookmarks if they bit mix and can't keep me interested after ten pages.

Most of the 'popular' comics get away with it because they've been around for years. Back when they started, they didn't have access to the wide range of resources we have today, which is also why they often resorted to 2-colour backgrounds, as well.
(Sarcasm) Plus, since it was around the beginning of 'teh internet', people needed some ways to make fan fictions of Megaman and Sonic starring in the same show/comic.
