In light of Steve's lamentation I'm starting this thread to get right down to the core of what I think The Spriter's Alliance is all about. What we want to improve on in our spriting skills.
Initially I was content with the droll yet crude method of just cutting and pasting game sprites onto game backgrounds then adding word bubbles to make a comic. It was just for fun and for my inner circle of role playing friends. But then I thought, hey, I want to have a legit web page showcasing my ideas. Thus through a series of web surfing trails I found SA.
As I've spent more time here I went from wanting to make custom sprites to being really interested in pixel art. So with you guys, I hope to be able to make my own sprites and backgrounds. Though as of now I'm only focusing on spriting.

what i want to improve is my ability to make something that is 100% my own. there is no sence of acomplishment like makeing something with little to go off of, and having it turn out better than you expected. when i see Den's custom basses, i am a bit envious, because it would be hard for me to make stuff like that. my best work when it comes to spriting, has always been made using pre-existing things as a base. recolors, frankensteins, miner edits... all that is stuff that can't really be called custom. but it's what i'm good at now. i hope to be able to just take inspiration, and only use that as a base, no pre existing sprites to help me. that will be my goal, and hopefully, with the help of the alliance, i will be able to achieve that goal.

I want to get better at my shading. As I've said tons of times in the past: shading is always my weak point in both spriting and drawing. I find I'm starting to pick up more and more tips from other, much better, spriters than me and from what I see in real life.
