This is something I just noticed while I was high last night. I thank my high for helping me realize this: A long time ago someone commented on one of my older comics and said "This has a video game feel to it". Which basically says reading my comic (Alexander and Lucas: Rebooted! has/had that feel to it as well) is like watching a continuous cut scene in a game. I spent most of last night thinking of what I could do to fix that. Then I remembered another trip I had while watching Scott Pilgrim vs the World again, on how it seemed to transition between parts. That's when I thought "Whoa, wait. Let's look at Underscore." And that had the answers, it doesn't pain me to say it but Underscore has everything a sprite comic needs to remove that video game feel. The Video Game Feel is when nothing really happens and it's just tons of texts rolling at you. The Comic Feel is when maybe nothing really happens, but it shows different angles of that same scene to keep people interested. Usually for sprite comics this means zooming in on characters, huge amounts of emotion and a bit better transitions. Experiment with the feel of your comic and try to deviate from the Video Game feel. For references to what the feels are, GhostHand's Underscore for the Comic Feel and the first thirty strips of Alexander and Lucas: Rebooted! for the Video Game Feel.
